The Weave is a collection of some of Liverpool’s best established jazz musicians, bringing together an extremely wide and rich range of influences and musical experience to create a repertoire of profoundly warm, melodic and joyous homespun originals.
Officially formed in August 2012, when they recorded their debut album, the members of The Weave have been playing together in various incarnations for up to 20 years. Together with the two trumpet and guitar front line, they create an unusual but extremely cohesive band sound and identity.
In their first year The Weave were selected as Northernline Ambassadors by Jazz North (winning tour support), and have performed at jazz festivals across the country including Manchester, Liverpool, Congleton and Teignmouth.Their self-titled album has received a great deal of mainstream radio exposure and got excellent reviews in the national media.
This event is part of After Hours at The Hepworth Wakefield where our galleries, shop and Café Bar all stay open until 9pm.
Live music at The Hepworth Wakefield is programmed in association with Yorkshire Live Music Project. YLMP, established in Wakefield in 2009, is a not for profit organisation dedicated to audience development for live professional classical and jazz music.
YLMP is grateful for the kind co-operation of GSG Pianos, Halifax.
