Stained Glass Window Masterclass with Jackie Hunt

Sa 18 and Sun 19 March, 10.30am – 4pm, £200 (Members £150)

Stained Glass

In this two day masterclass with professional stained glass artist Jackie Hunt you will create your own stained glass panel using the traditional method of combining coloured glass with lead.

During the workshop you will work with coloured, clear and textured glass, learning how to handle and cut glass safely. You will also learn the traditional technique of ‘leading up’ a panel to transform your drawings and inspiration into a stained glass panel.

This masterclass is a small intimate course, with lots of opportunities for practical help throughout. By the end of the two days you will have created your own panel suitable as a hanging decoration, or build into a window or frame.

The workshop is suitable for beginner and intermediate levels, with no experience required. If you do have some experience of stained glass it is an opportunity to improve your skills. All glass, tools and equipment will be provided for us on the course. You are more than welcome to bring drawings and images along as inspiration for creating your own panel. Much of the course will be messy, aprons will be provided but you may want to wear old clothes. Solid footwear is required, flat shoes with no open-toed or open-backed sandals are ideal.

Jackie Hunt is a professional stained glass artist who has a design and fine art education, and a  training in stained and architectural glass. Jackie has been teaching workshops for more than ten years across the country including sessions at  Leeds College of Art and The Hepworth Wakefield.

Please be aware lead and lead solder, both toxic substances, will be used during the workshop. Pregnant women are advised not to handle or breathe in the fumes. There will be a health and safety briefing as part of the course and safety equipment will be provided.
