Please note that due to unforeseen circumstances Claire Wellesley-Smith is no longer able to run this course. Because of the change of artists, the session originally on Saturday 25 February has been changed to Sunday 26 February.

Textile artist Amanda Woollard and printmaker Helen Peyton will present a special course that investigates creative and conceptual approaches to working with textiles. Working between The Hepworth Wakefield and the Art House’s print studios you will generate a number of innovative experiments, learning processes including pattern design, hand stitching and printmaking.
ABOUT THE TUTORS
Amanda Woollard is a textiles artist based in Yorkshire. She has a degree in Contemporary Surface Design and Textiles from Bradford School of Art and has recently been made an Embroiderers’ Guild Scholar. She works experimentally with textiles and will be looking at natural printing techniques, slow hand-stitching, and conceptual approaches to textiles through the course.
Helen Peyton is an artist and printmaker who uses colour, line and form as her inspiration. She is artist in residence at Craven Museum & Gallery, and recent projects have included the Turner Prize nominated Smart Gallery. Helen will be running a printmaking session on Sunday 26 February at the Art House’s print studios where you will print on textiles to create surfaces to stitch on.
