Explore the Kettle's Yard exhibition and make your own clay sculpture in our learning studios.
Families will explore the artworks in the exhibition through a fun series of looking and drawing activities. Enjoy a clay sculpture activity in our learning studios with hands-on support from our Creative Practitioner team. At the end of the session, you will have created your own clay sculpture to take home. This will be made of air drying clay, once your sculpture has dried you can have fun adding colour using paint at home.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Kettle's Yard was the home of art collector Jim Ede and in 1966 the house opened to the public as an art gallery. The Hepworth Wakefield is showing part of Kettle’s Yard‘s beautiful collection whilst the house is closed for some exciting building work to add new spaces to the gallery. The exhibition at the Hepworth includes sculpture, prints, paintings, ceramics, glass, textiles and furniture from Kettle’s Yard.
– You may wish to bring a small cardboard box to take your sculpture home.
– Clay can be messy so don’t wear your best clothes.
– You will be asked to collect an activity sheet from the learning studios and explore the gallery before starting the activity.
– Last admittance to the activity will be at 3.30pm. This workshop will be closed over lunch from 12.30 – 1pm.
This is a free drop-in activity but to help us facilitate an enjoyable experience for all of our visitors we ask that groups of 10 or more children let us know when they plan to visit by contacting the Learning Team on firstname.lastname@example.org or 01924 247398.
