Get to grips with your digital camera with professional photographer Tom Arber. Discover how to transform your photographs using different camera settings and simple editing techniques. Bring your own DSLR camera and kick-start a portfolio of new photography.

This 3-day course at The Hepworth Wakefield will explore the fundamentals of photography. You will learn how to use your DSLR camera in any situation, gaining an understanding of different camera modes and when to use them. The course will feature detailed introductions in technical aspects of photography including composition, light quality, lens choice, focusing modes, exposure compensation and basic editing techniques within Adobe Lightroom.

The beautiful galleries of The Hepworth Wakefield and surrounding River Calder will provide the subject for reconsidering how to get the most out of your camera. You will be tutored through a number of different practical activities before generating a mini pdf portfolio of final photographs exploring your own interests.

The course will also feature an introduction into editing images using professional digital software like Adobe Lightroom. You will also consider methods of printing and presentation of final images.
