Calling all budding filmmakers, cartoonists and photographers. This February half term, animator Sheryl Jenkins will help your child make their own animation and achieve a nationally recognised Explore Arts Award qualification.

Over the four days, your child will explore The Hepworth Wakefield and create a story inspired by the artworks they find. They will experiment with a variety of animation techniques using digital cameras, animation software, sound and narration.

£150 for four sessions.
Suitable for 7 – 11 year olds. There is no need to accompany your children on this course.

Day One

Meet Sheryl and all the other summer school participants! With your new friends, explore the artworks in the galleries then head to the learning studios to experiment with different animation styles and techniques.

Day Two

Get creative! Start making models and artworks that will feature in your animation. Record lots of interesting sound effects to use, including music and narration. Finally, enjoy a fun introduction to filming animated sequences to get you ready for day three.

Day Three

Have lots more fun creating artworks in the learning studios. Then, get behind the camera and start filming your animation sequences!

Day Four

Bring all of your hard work and creativity together as you edit your animation and add sound, visual effects and credits. At the end of the day, we will celebrate our exciting week by sharing our animations and artworks!
