Behind The Scenes Talks: An Insider's Guide To The Hepworth Wakefield

Every Tuesday from 31 Jan - 28 Feb, 1 – 2.30pm each session, £75 (Members £56.25)

The Hepworth Wakefield

Ever wondered what goes on behind-the-scenes at The Hepworth Wakefield? Join us for a series of talks and tours by members of the gallery team.

These talks offer a fascinating insight into the specific philosophy of The Hepworth Wakefield as well as the everyday workings of a modern art gallery. Each talk is a unique chance to meet and ask questions to key members of the curatorial team. You will get to see and hear what goes into creating, constructing and maintaining art exhibitions and our art collection.

Director Simon Wallis will discuss the creation of the David Chipperfield building, Gallery Manager Matt Kelly reveals how art is brought into the building and installed, curators Andrew Bonacina and Eleanor Clayton describe the process of putting together our major art exhibitions, and researcher Clare Nadal provides us with a peek inside Barbara Hepworth’s book collection.

Due to the behind the scenes nature of each talk, only a small group of people are able to attend – making this an intimate and exclusive experience. All talks include free refreshments.

Due to the nature of this workshop, there is a smaller number of places available then usual – we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment. To book a place on this workshop click here.

Half of the allocated places are offered at the Members discounted rate of 25%. A two-week priority booking period is offered to all Members and discounted places are sold on a first come, first served basis. To find out about becoming a member click here. If you have any questions or special requirements  then don't hesitate to get in touch by emailing or calling 01924 247398.
