The Hepworth makes a gallery trip fun for children and grown-ups alike, with a family trail to help you explore the galleries, a riverside play park and picnic area. There’s always something great to do at weekends and school holidays, with free and paid for activities.

Gallery Trails

Pick up one of our fun family trails from the Information Desk to complete with your family as you explore the galleries. Suitable for families with children aged 6-12.

Explorer Backpacks

Available from the Information Desk. Limited availability.

Become an art detective and discover the galleries with one of our Explorer Backpacks, full of activities to help your family engage with the exhibitions. Suitable for ages 5-11.

Outdoor Play Area

Burn off some energy in our outdoor play area equipped with climbing areas, swings, zip wires and much more! Suitable for families with children aged 2-12.

Picnic Areas

Enjoy your packed lunch in our indoor family picnic area on weekends and holidays, or if the sun is shining, go outdoors for riverside views.

Art Pods

Weekends and School Holidays, 1.00-4.00pm
Look out for our Art Pods located in the galleries and work together as a family to make something inspired by your favourite pieces of art.

Suitable for families with children aged 3-12. Children must be accompanied at all times.
